Privacy and terms

Who is behind it

Snow Envelope is a free project made by Cristian (hackeatutiempo.com, @hackeatutiempo on Instagram). Get in touch through either channel with any privacy question.

What we store and what we do not

There are no accounts, no sign-up and no tracking cookies. Only the language you choose is saved in your browser.

Everything you put in a letter (text, photos, voice, GIFs) is encrypted in your own browser before it is sent. The key to open it travels in the link, after the # sign, and that part never reaches our servers. That is why nobody, not even us, can read your letter.

The server only keeps the encrypted file and a few technical dates (created, opened and, if you schedule it, "do not open until").

To know how many letters are sent, we count anonymous events (letter created, opened or downloaded) together with the country, language, chosen scene and how many photos or GIFs it has. These statistics never include the content, the link or your IP.

How long it is kept

A letter deletes itself 7 days after it is first opened, or after 30 days if nobody opens it. The recipient can delete it sooner with "Delete now" and download everything inside.

Emails

If you choose to send the notification by email from the app, the address is used only for that delivery, through our provider Resend. We do not store it or use it for anything else. Each letter allows up to 3 emails.

Services we use

The app runs on Cloudflare (hosting, encrypted letter storage and Turnstile bot protection). If a letter includes GIFs from GIPHY, the recipient’s browser loads them directly from GIPHY.

The ideas pages (Christmas phrases and messages) show Google AdSense ads, which may use cookies depending on what you accept in its consent notice. The editor and the letters have no ads and no advertising cookies. Donations are handled by the external platform you choose to use.

Responsible use

You may not use Snow Envelope to send illegal content, harassment, spam or anything that violates other people’s rights. If you receive a letter like that, use "Report" in the letter menu. We may delete reported letters.

The service is free and provided as is, without any availability guarantee. Download the keepsake of any letter you want to keep.
